Mt. Hood Camp - Day 1

17 July, 2008 (18:40) | News!

Since you may have noticed there are not any posts from the 4-day coaches clinic I attended here at Mt. Hood you can see that I am having some technical difficulties. We do not have internet access at the house this camp so I have to head to a coffee shop when I have time. The coaches clinic went well, we spent 4 days on the hill and two afternoons in the “classroom”. I learned quite a bit and it was fun to interact with coaches from all different areas that coach a variety of skill levels.

In preparation for the athletes’ arrival we went to Hood River to pick up some items we left in storage between camps.  On the way there we saw a forest fire near Mt. Adams.

The athletes arrived yesterday (Wed July 16th) and today was our first official day of our tech camp (technical events for those that aren’t familiar with skiing terms which means we are focusing on the slower, tighter radius technical events of GS or Giant Slalom and slalom). We had a great first day on the hill today, it was sunny and warm and we did some GS drills. I will try to process some of my photos and get them up later tonight or tomorrow. All is going well in Oregon we are just technologically challenged at the moment. Hope all is well on your end!
