Hike to Donut Falls

24 May, 2008 (22:31) | News!

Ben and I decided we would go for a hike today.  We went up Big Cottonwood Canyon (home to Solitude and Brighton) and followed a friend’s directions for an easy hike to “Donut” falls.  We had a great hour-long hike to the “falls”.  The only problem was that we forgot that there would be snow in the mountains.  So we ambled up a snowy trail to find that the falls were pretty much covered with snow.  In the last photo below you can see the top part of the falls poking out.  We will have to go back later in the summer to check out the complete falls, once the snow has melted.  We are going skiing one last time at Snowbird tomorrow which should be fun.  I wanted to ski on my birthday and Snowbird will likely still be open since they are still getting snow but I will be in Phoenix visiting friends and going to a concert which will be just as fun.  Plus since I will be back on snow in 9 days I think a concert sounds pretty good!  Here are the photos.  Enjoy.  Hope all is well!
